Real Thing
yup, it's officially a new personal record : for 4 out of the 7 dinners this past week, i've been eating shen mian, aka crispy fried noodles... can't get enough of the stuff man... haha

ok, here goes the week in brief :
monday - was on top one of the vehicles taking trainees, when three coaches taxied into the veh shed. troops started streaming out of the buses, dismounting all of their heavy arms and personal weapons. guess who? it's 40sar c coy! heh, spotted a few familiar faces, all nicely camo-ed preping their veh in the distance. it didn't take long for them to find me : alson, kang yu, chek nam, samuel, desmond... green-black faces, m16s slung at the side, sbo's with 4 mags... and there i was in smart 4 going 'gun firing alright, gun stop'. haha, ah well, paid for their canteen break, good enough punishment for me i guess =)
tuesday - went to the CAI alone to take the trainees, was getting pushed to the limit. doesn't really pay to be nice.
wednesday - stanley popped over to my veh but i didn't have the time to chat, was conducting a test for the trainees...
thursday - bumped into alvin khoo and gang thru the day, it's been quite tough for them, poor things... sleeping at 2am and waking at 6 the next morning to drag themselves down to SOA. yet another reminder of how lucky i am, as bryan played around with my instructor cap...
friday - chun leck's on the radio again! woah... imagine it's some sort of homecoming for him, back again on deck.

have also stumbled upon some good news concerning two people i've been keeping a silent lookout for. i'm so glad they're happy now, having finally found.

and so here i am, back at home on a friday night typing away on my comp without a care in the world. =)
am told that this thing happens quite regularly... i think i'll just take them one at a time =P

Hero
it's the way he floats above the pitch, flying forward with the ball, deft touches to guide it along until he senses the moment to unleash a strike.
it's the speed he rips through the defences with, flowing with style and grace, penetrating deep behind enemy lines.
but most of all... he's a... gentleman. in a sport where elbows and kicks are rife, he carrys this above-it-all aura with him. his arms outstretched, registering a quiet protest while a defender pulls at his shirt, attempting to bring him down to the ground. he doesn't retaliate, remains passive and wins the day. you can't stop me, can't touch me and i'm two steps ahead of you, in a class beyond the reach of anyone.
guess who scored a hat-trick tonight?

Excalibur
guess what? i finally got the instructor's cap! =) they distributed it to us on thursday, one day before the end of the instr prep course. was fighting back the i-can't-believe-i'm-actually-an-instructor feeling inside of me as i held the black cap in my hands. but there it was, with my name neatly sewn on one side of the cap, and a tag with the words 'AI Instructor' threaded on the other side. this will probably be the closest i'll ever get to physically touching a dream in my life. am happy, am glad, am grateful and i'll never forget the people who helped me get this far.
the past week was mostly spent in lecture rooms repeating the lyrics to 'a moment like this' in my mind, while the speakers tried very hard to make lessons like 'making of transparencies' interesting. oh well, it wasn't an entire waste of time, i mean after the lessons i get to go and see the trainees in action. realised that as an instr, you cannot be wrong. as in if you get stunned by a trainee's question, it's quite hard to earn back your credibility. oh well, goes with the job i guess.
went out during the nights, played three rounds of pool this week. discovered that i don't take very well to losing... haha, sometimes i think i just try too hard.

Had a dream come true
oh yes... they played the song last night... the timing couldn't have been more perfect, as usual. it has happened twice already. there we were, at coffee bean, siping at our iced drinks, and then it played, barely audible above our chatting. smiled to myself, reciting every single word in my mind.
was asking for direction, i guess i got it already... it only took three times for it to get into my head. =)

Glow on
yesterday's dinner was nice, albeit a little short cos i was really late. caught up with bev and marabelle... esp m. cos it's been almost a year since we last saw each other. the surviving four went over to coffee bean after the meal, stayed til midnight =) then we left and i had this nice bus stop chat with a. til almost 2 in the morning... heh, and that was that.
have to book back into camp tonight cos of the instructor prep course tmr. it'll be somesort of a reunion for the new instrs, having gone our own ways since the end of the ps course. best part is we'll all be given the black instructor cap at the end of this course, coolness! =P

you know those moments, the times when you just nod your head gently up and down, while whispering to yourself, 'ya...', smiling a knowing smile, as if facing up to some age old truth that you knew existed but tried to hide away from.
i could just die now, happy and contented, having patched up a part of my life that was like an open wound... but no, much to go before i sleep i have. very much more... with new dreams to keep me company. =)

thursday... bukit panjang mall, mac's, bowling
friday... jurong pt, fish n co.
woah... have been going out almost every night for the past week... living's fun man... haha! and the best thing abt being a gunnery instructor, is that you get to throw bottled drinks at thirsty, tired, driving wing instructors =) haha... *evil* =P am eternally grateful for the way the dice rolled...
caught an episode of MVP qingren too, and yup, it's that type of show... would love to follow it, but i think it's quite difficult to keep watching a series in camp... unless i'm wrong because i'm in that special place called gtw... hahaha! i really don't believe this is happening... =P
